Last night, in the pouring rain, our Girls Football team took part in the East Riding U11 Football Finals, held at Driffield School, with the winner progressing to the Humber Final later in November.
Conditions were harsh, as the rain made the going tough for all the girls teams.
Five teams took part (Driffield Juniors, Flamborough, Hornsea, St Mary's Beverley and Withernsea) in a round robin tournament.
There was some awesome football on display with fantastic footballers in the teams. However, Withernsea emerged victorious on the evening, unbeaten in all of their games.
Our girls (pictured, looking rather wet) finished third in the group, scoring the only goal that Withernsea conceded!
Well done to all the girls who took part, the parents/grandparents and siblings who endured the poor conditions.
A big thanks must also go to the two referees (Mr Wilkinson and Mr Inns) who were left needing a warm bath afterwards!
