Collective Worship
At Driffield Junior School children take part in daily Collective Worship (assemblies) as follows:
Monday |
Whole school assembly |
Tuesday |
Year group assembly/class assembly |
Wednesday |
Lower/Upper school assembly |
Thursday |
Class assembly |
Friday |
Celebration assembly |
Our assemblies promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development as well as intellectual and personal development. Assemblies in our school follow broadly Christian values and contribute to pupils’ SMSC development whilst promoting fundamental British Values. However, children are also given the opportunity to develop a personal understanding of other faiths and beliefs as well as the values and practices linked to these. They also incorporate a time for personal and collective reflection developing children’s ability to think philosophically and critically about the world around them. Our times of shared contemplations and reflections are both introspective and extrospective.
Once a term, the local YEAST group (Yorkshire East Area Schools Team) - made up of volunteers from New Hope and The Key Churches - lead a whole school assembly.
