offering children and young people the opportunity to enjoy fun activities as part of a national scheme
funded by the Department for Education.
There are lots of activities available, including sports camps to crazy science experiment workshops,
dance sessions to outdoor adventure. Whilst all our activities are inclusive, we also have a specific
SEND programme which consists of farm experiences and UV glow team games. There are over 30

with funded places granted on a first come, first served basis. The vast majority of HAF sessions are 4
hours long with some of our providers offering paid places on their holiday schemes for everyone to
enjoy the same activities. New to HAF this Easter are free swimming, circuit classes, multi-sports and
zorb football for your teenagers, and music workshops in Bridlington, Beverley and Withernsea.

    Christmas Card Competition

Great Driffield Radio has today launched their competition for children in the local area to design their official Christmas Card this year.
This year they have teamed up with Flamingo Land to offer an amazing prize to the winning child and another great prize to the school they attend. Entries are open to anyone aged 16 and under.
The winning design will feature on the front of the Great Driffield Radio Christmas Card which they will be sending to our clients and friends of the station.

The person with the winning design wins a £50 ‘Discover Driffield’ voucher, which can be spent at loads of local shops in Driffield and the winner’s school will win £300 worth educational supplies.

If your child does complete a design it should be handed in to the school office. The competition closes on Friday 24th November and they will announce the winner on air on Wednesday 29th November and will be in contact with the winner too.

We’re looking forward to seeing some great designs!

New SEND Coffee Morning Support Group

    Dear parents/carers,

There will be a new SEND parent/carer coffee morning in Driffield (The exchange Hub) which the 0-25 SEND team will be attending to provide support and guidance where needed. The aim of the coffee morning is to develop a support network for SEND parents and carers, to provide a safe space to discuss sensitive topics, share positive experiences and gain peer support for challenges which they are experiencing. I know that many families have limited support from extended family or friends, and this can often feel isolating. We are hoping that these coffee mornings will allow them to support each other, and what better way to do this than with a cuppa and a biscuit!

This is open to all SEND parents and they do not need to be known to the 0-25 SEND Team or have an EHCP.

There is a small play area for anyone who has younger children too!

    Driffield Junior School Football Victory!

    Hi All

Last night saw our annual Football Tournament take place on the astro turf pitch at Driffield School.

Teams were split into two groups, playing each other in their group before a small schools final and a large schools final.  Well done to all the footballers with games played in great spirit and true sportsmanship. Hutton Cranswick came top of their group, winning three and losing one of their games.  Their only loss coming to Driffield Juniors who were undefeated during the evening, winning two and drawing two of their games.

In the other group, Burton Agnes finished top, winning three and drawing two of their five games.

In the small schools final, Burton Agnes and Hutton Cranswick played out a thriller with end to end football, finishing 0-0 after 10 minutes of play.  After 3 penalties each, the scores were still level.  Eventually, Hutton Cranswick were triumphant on penalties and now progress to the Small Schools Humber Final which will be held after half term.

In the large schools final, Driffield were all square with Nafferton at full time and were only separated with a golden goal just before the floodlights were turned off.  Driffield now progress to the East Riding Final on Wednesday 18th October at Wolfreton School.

Pictures should be in a future issue of Drifffield & Wolds Weekly.

Many thanks must go to Driffield School for allowing us to use their astro turf pitch, all the teachers for helping run their teams, Mr Wood, Mr Lapworth, Mr Mead, Mr Harrison and Mr Inns for refereeing and all the parents/grandparents and siblings for their support.

Good luck to the two winning schools in their next rounds.

Next week (Tuesday 17th October) sees the Girls Only Football Tournament with the winners progressing to their East Riding Final after half term.

     Regards

     Andy Inns
